Course objectives
The aim of the course is to deepen students' knowledge of the foundations and methods of qualitative research and their application to a specific problem. The course includes a repetitorium of the main principles of and approaches in qualitative research. Emphasis will be placed on the reflection of the epistemological foundations of the project and their correspondence with the chosen method. Furthermore, student will be introduced to international publishing standards in qualitative research in the field of psychology.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, student will be able to - characterize the foundations and forms of qualitative research - reflect on the epistemological and theoretical foundations of a given project and their correspondence with other parts of the project - choose an adequate approach for a particular research problem - apply international standards in the publication of qualitative research

  • 1. A brief repetitorium of the basic principles of qualitative research, formulation of a research question 2. A conceptual framework: epistemologcal foundations, conceptual framework of a particular substantive area, choice of a particular approach in qualitative research 3. Design, sampling, data creation 4. Data analysis: various approaches to coding, interaction between initial concepts and data 5. Presentation of results, validity
