Course objectives
Students will be introduced the theoretical backround of psychosomatic thinking, theories and models of psychosomatic interrelations, specifics of cooperation and communication with psychosomatic patients; attention will be also paid to possibilities of prevention and diagnosis of psychosomatic disorders, possibilities and limits of psychotherapy and principles of team cooperation in treatment. Moreover, also the specific consequences of this issue in adulthood and childhood will be presented. The objective is to acquire basic notions, findings, theories and contexts.
Learning outcomes
Upon completing the course, students will be capable of phrasing questions within the psychosomatic issue; showing an insight into knowledge related to selected psychosomatic disorders; applying basic ideas of this approach when working with clients.

  • history and development of psychosomatics, individual schools and trends, diagnosis of psychosomatic disorders, differential diagnosis, psychosomatics in psychiatry, the developmental aspect of psychosomatic disorders, psychosomatics in childhood, psychosomatic view on pain, psychosomatics in psycho-oncology, eating disorders
