Course objectives

This course introduces important theorie, concepts and issues in the contemporary social movement and political protest studies. It provides and overview of classic theories but also focuses on recent problems and approaches. It also introduces some key social movements.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to - define and conceptualize social movements - understand the historical development of individual thematic social movements, their organizational and ideological foundations - distinguish between different approaches to the study of political protest - understand the broader political processes and structures in our societies
