Course objectives
The course is focused on the topic of security policy building in Europe with the emphasis on developments in the 1990s within the framework of the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance and the anticipated trends in short and medium term.
Main objectives can be summarized as follows: to understand the topic of European security and defence policy, to analyze the attitudes of European countries and actors of the world politics towards the ESDP, and to elaborate the trends in the field of the European security and defence policy.

  • 5. Relationship of the European Union (ESDI, ESDP) and NATO. (J. Závěšický)

Assessment methods
The examination will be passed based on the seminar paper, presentation and the written test. To pass the examination, it is to be achieved at least 60 per cent of the written test.
Teaching methods used in the course: lectures, class discussions, student presentations, reading (obligatory and mandatory).
