Course objectives
This course is a required seminar for students enrolled in General Sociology (SOC755). The purpose of this seminar is for students to gain deeper knowledge, think critically about, and discuss the social theories introduced in the General Sociology class.
Syllabus
  • This seminar provides an opportunity for students to discuss the theories and concepts introduced in the regular General Sociology seminar. Students may read supplementary literature, watch films, and make in-class presentations and write essays about themes discussed in General Sociology. This seminar is led by a doctoral teaching assistant.

Teaching methods
This course will consist of weekly meetings with a doctoral teaching assistant and will focus on presentations and discussion.
Assessment methods
The semester grade will be based on students' attendance, participation in discussion, classroom presentations, and weekly essays.
