Course objectives
The course offers the basic knowledge in the area of the school psychologists` work (law, ethics, cooperation with teachers, parents and students). At the end of this course, students will be able to: a) describe specific techniques and methods in school psychology; b) analyze problems and choose appropriate diagnostic techniques and interventions methods; c) create an annual plan of the school psychologist work; d) judge the ethics code of school psychologist
Syllabus
  • Course content:
  • (1)School psychologist in the system of school (history of school psychology, school psychology in system of psychological science, school consulting, education of school psychologists, ethic a low in work of school psychologist)
  • (2)Cooperation of school psychologist with teachers (strength and weakness, intervention a support methods)
  • (3)Students with special education needs (students with specific learning disorders, gifted students, individual educational plan, integration process of students with specific educational needs)
  • (4)Career consulting (diagnostic methods, individual and group administrated techniques, consulting for parents and students,
  • (5) Measuring of social relationships in the classroom (diagnostic methods – sociometry, nominal group technique, questionnaires, and projective techniques; data analyses, interpretation of results, how to communicate the results with class, teachers and parents; preventive programs for classes, ethics issues)
  • (6)Problem behaviour in the school (motivation of problem behaviour, intervention, prevention of problem behaviour, encouragements strategies. Bullying in the school – intervention program)
  • (7)Crises intervention in the school settings (acute stress reaction, basic principles of crises intervention, action plan)
