Course objectives
The purpose of this course is to discuss legal issues related to regular practice in research. In particular, the course will focus on compliance and liability regimes arising from gathering and processing of research data. In addition, there will be tackled IP-related issues of scientific publishing (incl. recent phenomena such as open science, grey literature etc.)
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students sould be able to:
understand an apply data protection and privacy compliance in research data
understanad and apply basic liability regimes in processing of primary and secondary research data
understand and apply basic IP instruments related to protection of research outcomes incl. legal protection of scientific heritage
understand basic legal issues related to public and private financing of research
understand legal regulatory framework of project financing and functioning of scientific consortia
critically assess current research policies (such as open science or grey literature)

Research colloquia (in-class discussion and consultations), independent desk research, independent resolution of practical assignment (scenario)
Assessment methods
Credits will be awarded upon submission and presentation of assigned practical scenario (the scenario will consist of legal issues typically occurring in research practice).
