Course objectives
Clinical medicine includes basic clinical issues. It deals with the etiology and pathogenesis of diseases, their diagnosis, principles of treatment, great emphasis is placed on prevention and lifestyle. After completing the course, the student will be able to recognize the symptoms of more serious general diseases and also individual diseases within their specialization. He / she will also be able to intervene therapeutically and provide qualified first aid in acute conditions. The basis is correctly obtained anamnestic data. The graduate will know and will be able to practically apply the basics of internal propaedeutics. They must know the usual basic biochemical and hematological laboratory parameters. They must also be able to detect emergencies in good time and take appropriate action as far as possible. The dental hygienist must evaluate whether the patient is currently able to perform a specific procedure from the health point of view. At the same time, he must identify a potentially risky patient from the point of view of protecting his own health and the health of others. The graduate of the study field of dental hygiene masters the principles of dental hygiene and is able to apply them practically in his / her profession. He is generally and professionally medically educated enough to understand the connections between dental hygiene care, the overall health of the client, biomedical and social sciences and be able to use this knowledge in the performance of work in the field of dental hygiene. A dental hygienist is a qualified healthcare professional who, independently in cooperation with a dentist and on his recommendation, performs preventive, curative and educational activities in the care of patients in the field of dental hygiene.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student will be able to: - to collect relevant anamnestic data essential for dental hygiene performance - knows the correct hygienic procedures for the protection of the health of the patient, as well as his own event. and other staff - recognizes the patient's condition, when the performance of dental hygiene can be health hazardous for both the patient and the environment - professionally evaluates this condition and informs the attending physician about the findings - in the event of refusal or restriction of the performance of any of the services, is able to justify the procedure in writing -can evaluate the overall current state of health (heart rate, blood pressure, hypo- or hypertension, identify qualitative disorders of consciousness, feverish state) - can perform aspect, palpation and auscultation examinations of the head - with a focus on the face - and neck
- recognize the symptoms of individual diseases and within their specialization also intervene therapeutically
- provide qualified first aid for acute conditions.

  • Introduction to Clinical Medicine , terminology History, in detail , focusing on dental issues Basic symptoms of selected diseases , local manifestations of systemic diseases in the oral cavity Laboratory tests - overview of hematologic and biochemical values Diseases of the heart and blood vessels , prevention programs - primary , secondary prevention Diabetes mellitus , symptoms, diagnosis, treatment principles , dietary issues, measures of acute complications - hypoglycemia .
