Course objectives
Main objectives: - to understand the basic principles of transcultural nursing; - to define the cultural competences of healthcare professionals; - to become familiar with the structure of the minority population in Czech society; - to identify the specifics of providing care for nationality, ethnic and religious groups living in the Czech Republic; - to reflect migration issues and related current developments, legislation, refugee facilities and centers for foreigners, health needs and migrants' risks.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to: - use the basic conceptual apparatus in transcultural nursing; - Explain the influence of faith, religion, culture, traditions, customs, values, ethics, etc. in transcultural nursing; - identify and respect patient values; - Identify and respect the specific needs of patients in the provision of health / nursing care in terms of national, ethnic and religious; - use alternative ways of communicating with foreigners, apply the principles of communication label to foreigners; - Identify patients' spiritual needs and implement a saturation plan for these needs; - Apply acquired knowledge and cultural competences in providing culturally specific care.

  • - Ethical aspects and communication in a transcultural nursing (communication barriers, verbal and nonverbal communication, the principles of interpretation) - Nursing process in a transcultural nursing - Spiritual needs of the nursing process. - Selected ethnic minorities, ethnic and religious groups.
