Course objectives
The content of the course is familiarisation with the issue of the organisation of Czech health care in the context of information systems, their methodology and implementation of information technology applications in healthcare. Attention will also be paid to data security, personal data protection and ethics in health information systems. Basic technological aspects of reliability of information systems and availability of data and applications. Data communication standards and integration of heterogeneous health and medical systems.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to: - understand the problems of information systems in general - orientate themselves in the field of hospital information systems - understand the issue of the interconnection of individual health information systems up to the issue of e-health. - Understand patient data and patient computer record - apply information and communication technologies in the context of diagnostic, therapeutic and administrative systems, hierarchy and function of medical information systems.

  • 4. Current problems in the field of e-health, for example, the issue of e-prescription
  • 5. Database systems, database models
  • 6. Computer as a part of diagnostic, therapeutic and administrative systems.
  • 7. Hospital information systems
  • 8. Computerised patient record, medical data, paperless hospital
  • 9. E-health, communication between different information systems and data standards
  • 10. Problems of telemedicine
  • 11. Principles of hospital information systems architecture
  • 12. Data security and ethics in health information systems
