Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: understand and explain the basics and principles of neurology; work with information on the neurological examination to create the symptoms, syndromes of the neurological disorders; make reasoned decisions about the topical diagnosis and differential diagnosis based on the symptomatology. make deductions based on acquired knowledge in the field of neurology interpret paraclinical examinations.
Syllabus
  • General neurology Neurological syndromology and neurological evaluation. The practical lectures in the lecture hall and bedside examination of the patients. Day 1. neurological history taking. Reflexology. Palsies, pyramidal signs. Day 2. Cranial nerves examination. Sensitivity and its affections. Day 3. Extrapyramidal and cerebellar signs. Spine examination. Disorders of the stance and walking. Meningeal syndrome. Uncousciousness. Day 4. aphasias, alexia, agraphia and other higher central nervous system disorders Day 5. neurological paraclinical examinations, Neurological examination and notes. Neurological diagnosis. Days 6-7. Pediatric neurology, the principles. Special Neurology Day 3-5. Focus on main nosological units and syndromes in neurology. The practical lectures in the lecture hall and bedside examination of the patients. Day 8. stroke, multiple sclerosis. Day 9. Epilepsy, tumors, vertebrogenic disorders, movement disorders, headache, dementias. Day 10. Neuromuscular disorders, critical illness patient. Classified credit (practical exam with written neurological examation of the patient).
