Course objectives
Nursing in Oncology - Practical training is a practical subject that integrates knowledge from the theory and practice of nursing, basic science disciplines, natural, social and behavioral sciences. The subject follows up on the previous nursing practice and provides for consolidation and deepening of nursing knowledge and skills. The content of the subject is an independent practical activity in the form of clinical internships at oncology workplaces. The goal of clinical internships is the ability to apply the nursing process to cancer patients.
Student will be able to: define the specifics of the nursing process in the oncology department, identify the needs of the patients, formulate the nursing problems of the patients and on their basis formulate nursing diagnoses, establish nursing care plan, evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care and nursing interventions, evaluate the nursing care plan, documentation and recording changes in the status of patients according to the competencies of the students.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
to understand the specifics and organization of care in oncology
to understand basic diagnoses in oncology and their clinical manifestations
identify the needs of the patient with oncological illness
provide nursing care to a patient with an oncological illness
to evaluate the effectiveness of the care provided in a patient with oncological illness.
