Course objectives
Aim of the course is to provide students with broad knowledge in the field of gynecology and obstetrics, namely in the area of nursery. Students acquire knowledge of prevention, follow-up, diagnostics and treatment of diseases of female genital organs including breast diseases. It also acquaints students with the diagnosis of pregnancy, preventive care for a pregnant woman, high-risk pregnancy, illness in pregnancy, birth management incl. care of newborn after delivery. The lectures also focus on acute conditions in gynecology and obstetrics. Emphasis is placed on the differences in the individual needs of women and their satisfaction by age, including healthy sexual life. It introduces the differences of multidisciplinary care in primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare. The course is designed as a theoretical-practical unit.
Learning outcomes
• Students will acquire practical skills consistent with the competences of the nurse.
• Students are able to apply the acquired skills in the real environment of clinical nursing practice.
• Students are able to perform nursing procedures with respect to compliance with hygienic-epidemiological requirements.
• When performing nursing procedures, ensure that the patient's safety, intimacy and comfort are maintained.
• Students are able to provide care to pediatric patients, their parents and women in the gynecology and obstetrics departments.
