Course objectives
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to deepen knowledge of basic theoretical rules and principles of floristry and floral arrangement. Emphasis is placed on gaining practical experience from individual floristic disciplines, as well as using non-traditional materials and ways of their processing.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- learn how to navigate in aids and materials used in floristry and floral arranging;
- to learn to prepare plant material and to treat floral work or decoration;
- apply your creativity in the final work;
- apply compositional principles and rules in practice; - to choose and apply the appropriate technique of creating a floral work or decoration;
- knowledge of plant, technical and decorative material by appropriate selection.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to floristry and the basics of arranging 2; familiarization with the subject syllabus; Floral and non-floral materials for pricked arrangements, decorated flowers, bouquets and small floral decorations and floristic work - decoration of one flower; decorations for St. Valentine's Day, to MDŽ.
  • 2. Decoration of containers - pierced arrangement in the concept of floristic design. Basic processing of plant material, principles of work with arrangement material, presentation of basic styles, compliance with aesthetic laws.
  • 3. Long-term interior decoration - Pot plants give us a great deal of creative work in floristry. Durability and diversity call for different classroom, room or apartment modifications. - Composition in spilled pots (cups) that will permanently enhance and refine the environment of the classroom, interior, apartment as well as a teaching aid - "Living water" - biomas - (plant, stem, leaf) - planting according to the requirements for living conditions; - Decorative and group set-up arrangements - principles of work, containers, suitable plants, designs. The technique of work, the choice of plants and vessels, the arrangement of plants - "Succulent bonsai" - (plant tissue).
  • 4. "Arranging for health" - use of plants, vegetables, fruit in floristry. Emphasizing life and its influence on human (digestive system).
  • 5. Spring and Easter floristics - pruned decorations, flowers, wreaths etc. Techniques of work, work with symbolism Easter, use of natural material. Spring decoration of interiors.
  • 6. Bouquets of classic and other styles and the use of non-traditional and less-used types. Type of bouquet, techniques of work, color harmony, aesthetic patterns, techniques, own design (flower, inflorescence, relation to nature). Floral Decorations - Flower Jewelry.

Teacher's information
The student will pay for and find the material for some seminar lessons himself - it is necessary to expect a maximum of about 2,000 CZK/semester (the teacher will send you a list of necessary aids for the seminar by e-mail at least 7 days before the individual thematic seminars). Compositions become the property of the author.

The PdF MU "Kejbaly" demonstration nature garden is located near the Brno-Bohunice University Campus, Vinohrady Street 506/100.

A. You can get to the garden by bus number 40 (it stops, for example, at the Křídlovická stop - next to Ronda aka Winning Group Arena). You must get off at the STUDENTSKÁ stop!!! and then walk a short distance. B. Or by tram/railway No. 8 (stops at the Křídlovická stop) get off at the NEMOCNICE BOHUNICE stop and you can change to bus No. 69 in the direction of Ukrainská and get off at the KAMENICE stop. or you can walk from the University campus. C. Another option is to come by car, if you choose this option, take a good look at the search engine (www.mapy.cz) to find out how to get to us. It is ideal to arrive from the campus and park at CEITEC. The garden itself is off-limits.
