Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarised as follows:
to learn and to practice the foundations of calculations in chemistry and their practical applications.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this course the student will gain:  Knowledge of the basic chemistry calculations and their practical applications  skills in solving basic chemical calculations and their practical applications  Comprehensive overview, related to the subject's curriculum content (Basic chemical calculations - from chemical formula, from chemical equation, concentration and their mutual recalculations, pH calculations, calculations in volumetric analysis and instrumental methods).
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic laws. Relative atomic and molecular mass. Mol. Molar mass.
  • 2. Calculations from chemical formula.
  • 3. Equations. Forming of chemical equations. Oxidation/reduction equations.
  • 4. Calculations from chemical equation.
  • 5. Concentrations. Calculations of solutions concentrations.
  • 6. Activity. Ion strength.
