Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic special pedagogical diagnostic tools and procedures in sighted and blind children, pupils and students.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- understand the manifestations of visual impairment - Identify and describe important areas of special pedagogical diagnostics of visual perception - Understand the procedures in the diagnostics of functional vision and understand the use of information from a medical examination of the eye in the field of visual stimulation - identify and describe the possibilities of promoting visual perception in early and preschool children;
- to propose measures and recommendations for the education of pupils with visual impairments, depending on age and degree of visual impairment;

  • • Visual impairment - specifications, manifestations and influence on mental processes - Tests of functional vision, visual therapy and functional vision assessment. • Significance of diagnostics of functional vision with focus on age and degree of visual impairment. • Special pedagogical diagnostics of visual functions and interdisciplinary cooperation in the diagnostic process. • Diagnostics of visual function in early and pre-school children, stimulation of vision. • Diagnostics of visual functions and related special educational needs in school-age children. • Diagnostics of visual functions during adolescence and adulthood. • The importance of compensatory senses in the diagnostics of visual impairment. • Diagnostics of disorders in binocular vision and its significance. Special procedures. • Diagnostics of visual impairment in a child with multiple disability.
