Course objectives
Having met the course requirements, students will be able to characterize the basic tendencies in the development of literature for children from the 1990s onwards. They will be able to evaluate the contribution of significant personalities in relation to different genres of literature for young adults. They will be able to interpret literary pieces as well as justify and support their views using their knowledge of literary studies.
Syllabus
  • 1. Changes of the social-historical situation and their influence on the development of the cultural context in the 1990s. 2. Demonopolization of the publishing of books for children, profiles and evaluation of new publishing houses, changes in the structure of the publishing of magazines for children. 3. The theory and criticism of literature for youth after 1989. 4. Changes of genres, new thematic areas, individual authors and works.
