Course objectives
The course objective is to master the essentials of literary studies and to introduce the terminology and methodology of literary science. Students will systematically apply their knowledge of literary science in order to be able to communicate with a literary text more effectively. They will further develop interpretational skills creatively use their knowledge gained not only in contact classes but also in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher.
Syllabus
  • 1. The basic concepts and bibliography concerning the subject. 2. Prosodic systems in czech literature. 3. Introduction to the theory of verse. 4. Analyses of poetic texts. 5. Free verse: analyses. 6. Language means of the literary text. 7. Thematic analyses. The structure of the literary work. 8. Literary categories, kinds and genres. 9. Final test.
