Course objectives
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the current aspects of ontogenesis of speech and language skills, the origins of early speech therapy, early diagnostics of speech development and language skills in children with identifiable risk and potentially identifiable risk, expanding theoretical knowledge about diagnostics and therapy of impaired communication skills in pre-school children. Study of contemporary and foreign literature in the field of speech therapy
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to explain the essence of individual theories of development of language skills, to define the essential milestones of speech development and language skills, to specify the bases of early speech therapy, to propose procedures for intervention in children with identifiable and potential risk. The student will be oriented in intervention in children with impaired communication ability at pre-school age.
Syllabus
  • Basic attributes of language and speech. Verbal communication, nonverbal communication; Theory of development of language skills; Contemporary aspects of ontogenesis of speech and language skills. Characterization of language planes (lexical-semantic, morphological-syntactic, phonetic-phonological, pragmatic). early diagnosis of speech development and language skills, intervention in children during periods of unintentional communication; intercourse in children during intentional communication; impaired speech development - classification, characteristics; Delays in speech development and language skills; a specifically disrupted speech development; dyslalie; fluency fluctuations and speech rate; Speech disorder - flutter, palatolal; (s) elective mutism - definition, characteristic, speech therapy.
