Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide the students with the basic teacher´s competences with the accent on value education and help them to understand both their own and societal value system. The course presents a specific educational practice adequate for the 21. century, builds on, deepens and generalizes the students´knowledge and experience gained during the teaching practice and the course of theory and methodology of education.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student should be able to: describe and explain the fundament of value education (using specific examples); be a good guardian for the pupils; perceive the educational proces as an inclusive process and create a positive climate for pupils from different cultural and social environment. The student should also be able to describe the processes leading to exclusion of certain pupils from the natural social environment (class, team or family) and practically adopt the method of value education as a way to pupils´inner motivation to learn and cooperate.
Syllabus
  • Introduction to axiology. Cyril Mooney´s Value Education model. The Values and needs of the student and the teacher. The values and the atmosphere of the class/school. The value education in teaching different subjects. Assessment at school as a mean for a coexistence of a group. Sample lectures (Music education) – preparation, presentation and assessment.

Teaching methods
The fundamental teaching method is the method of value education itself based on the hierarchy of seven working phases( from individual work, group work, discussion, analysis to personal conclusions). Students will prepare their own contribution to value education and introduce a practical application of their thoughts and visions.
Assessment methods
Final discussion – final (group) project of 3-5 pages submitted both in the electronic form and a hard copy to the teacher at a date agreed - a presentation of a seminar task with an outline in the student’s own words of about max. 15 minutes of length.
