Course objectives
The history of art 3 together with the previous and subsequent subjects (History of Art 1, History of Art 2 and History of Art 4) forms a primary overview course of art history. They provide basic information about artistic epochs, key works and artists, their wider cultural background. It develops an understanding of the development of art, its importance for the past and present societies, the ability to interpret itself and present its knowledge and conclusions. They become a springboard for further study of art history and preparation for their teaching.
Learning outcomes
The course broadens knowledge and deepens the understanding of the modern art till the first half of the 19th century.
At the end of the course students will be able to understand and explain classification, forms and transformations of this period.
In addition to the basic facts, they will be able to interpret cultural, historical and technological background of the changes of the forms of art.
Students will be able to hand down acquired information, to apply it in their view of their surroundings and to use in orientation in their personal creative development.
