Student must be proficient in knowledge of phonetics and phonology, word formation, morphology and syntax, including orthography.

Course objectives
After completing the course, the student is able to define the didactics of the Czech language as a science, make the analysis, and show the relationship to other scientific disciplines. He or she is familiar with the objectives and tasks of language teaching, the concept of the subject in RVP ZV. He or she is well oriented in the Czech language textbooks for the first grade of Primary Schools and other teaching aids. He or she controls the latest methods and forms used in teaching. He or she understands the importance of the teacher’s personality not only in mother tongue teaching, but also in the teaching of national consciousness and national values, and he or she applies the principle of integrity. He or she leads the students to mastery of basic rules of the Czech orthography.

Teaching methods
The teaching methods based on the operations of thought are used in teaching, particularly analysis and synthesis. Controlled conversation, critical thinking, problem methods, written tests, and individual students’ works are used as additional methods.
Assessment methods
Seminary Cours. Ending: Credit. The type of the lesson: seminar The course is closed by a credit based on a written test. It is focused on the skills in looking up and correcting the spelling, morphological and syntactic mistakes in the text, and in being able to give reasons for the solution. These skills are trained in the seminar from its very beginning, later on in the form of an individual seminar paper (by means of assignments in the Information System). The student can make only two spelling errors in the text consisting of about 10 lines to meet the criteria of a successful test.
