Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the morphological system of the Russian language and special terminology that you need to know not only for further study of the grammatical system of the Russian language, but also for further study of individual linguistic disciplines. Attention is paid to the comparison of the Czech and Russian languages, attention is drawn to a positive transfer and linguistic interference in both languages.

The language of lectures is Russian.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- define grammatical categories of nouns, adjectives and pronouns in contemporary Russian;
- describe and identify the parts of speech (nouns, adjectives, pronouns);
- compare the functioning of nouns, adjectives and pronouns in Russian and Czech;
- to apply the theoretical knowledge gained from the field of word construction and the classification of the parts of speech for communication in Russian.
Syllabus
  • 1. Object of morphology and basic morphological terms. Parts of speech. Word formation.
  • 2. Word formation in Russian – morphemes, word-formation means, word-formation dictionaries.
  • 3. Grammatical categories of nouns un Russian.
  • 4. Declension of nouns. 1st declension in Russian.
  • 5. 2nd declension and 3rd declension of nouns.
  • 6. Russian nouns in comparison with Czech (selected aspects).
  • 7. Adjectives, part-of-speech characteristic of adjectives.
  • 8. Morphological (grammatical) categories of adjectives: paradigmatic, classification of adjectives, short and long forms of adjectives.
  • 9. Three degrees of adjective comparison in Russian.
  • 10. Pronouns and pronominal words. Personal, reflexive and possessive pronouns.
  • 11. Negative, demonstrative, indefinite pronouns.
  • 12. Revision.
