Course objectives
The objective of the course is to learn the principles of piano improvisation and use basic stylizations in providing accompaniment for folk and artificial songs. Student will be able to use the piano accompaniment for voice lessons and on the basis of acquired knowledge to play songs with singing, taking into account the needs of voice training.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:
- Improve the accompaniment of folk and synthetic songs;
- to create a prelude and rebuild the songs;
- to interpret small pieces of piano production suitable for pre-school children.
Syllabus
  • Minor scales (harmonic) and chords: a, e, b, d, g, c, f.
  • Minor cadences of the white keys.
  • Modulation through a dominant chord.
  • Voice exercises in major keys using the tonic and subdominant in the piano accompaniment.
  • Folk and modern songs.
  • Interpretation of two piano pieces from the recommended literature.

Teaching methods
Acquisition of technical exercises (minor scales and chords). Practical use of cadences, modulation and fundamental stylizations in piano accompaniment of songs and voice exercises.
Assessment methods
Type of teaching: exercises. Completion: credit. Practical completion - requirements for credit: minor scales and chords: a, e, b, d, g, c, f. Minor cadences of the white keys. Playing basic voice exercises in major keys in half tones transpositions using the tonic and subdominant accompanied by modulation through seventh-chord (D7). Secondary harmonic functions - II. and VI. degree in keys C, D, Eb, E, F and G major. Music transposition to nearby keys. Playing 25 songs with overture and singing. Interpretation of the two piano pieces from recommended reading. The obligation to attend classes. 100% attendance.
