Course objectives
Objective of the course in terms of learning outcomes and competences The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the problems of speech development and language skills, speech therapy intervention in pre-school age children. Familiarization with various types of impaired communication skills in pre-school age children, application to practical cases of children with impaired communication ability.
Learning outcomes
Students have theoretical knowledge of the notion of impaired communication skills related to pre-school age; has an overview of the different types of communication skills in pre-school age children; can apply the acquired knowledge to practical cases in children with impaired communication ability
Syllabus
  • Basic attributes of language and speech. Verbal communication, nonverbal communication, contemporary aspects of speech ontogenesis and language skills. Characteristics of linguistic levels (lexical-semantic, morphological-syntactic, phonetic-phonological, pragmatic). Disturbed speech development - classification, characteristics, child with specifically disrupted speech development - characteristic of speech impairment, logopedic intervention. Delayed speech development - OVR characteristics, diagnostic options, speech therapy intervention. Dyslalia - current views on dyslalie, classification of dyslexia from the phonetic and phonological point of view, speech therapy in pre-school children. Disruption of speech fluence in pre-school children. Speech disorders in preschool children - stupidity, palatolalia. Orofacial clefts - etiology, classification.
