Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic concepts of linguistic acquisition and psycholinguistics. In view of the speech therapist work, the student will learn the language acquisition process in all linguistic fields, namely phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax and vocabulary, which are important in terms of monitoring the development of communication competence and its support. Attention will also be paid to the acquisition of languages in multilingual situations (bilingualism, Czech as a second / foreign language, etc.).
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the student will be oriented in basic psycholinguistic terminology and will have an overview of the processes of acquiring selected categories of communication skills in order to be able to use the acquired knowledge in practice.

  • Language acquisition and psycholinguistics - definition of fields, basic terminology. • • The process of language acquisition - theories and approaches. • • Acquisition of selected phonics and phonology phenomena. • • Acquisition of selected phenomena from morphology. • • Acquisition of selected vocabulary phenomena. • • Acquisition of selected phenomena from the syntax area.
