Course objectives
The course aims to convey to the students actively:
a) the substantive nature and purpose of geography education at primary school,
b) the laws of creating teaching objectives, learning activities and the creation of teaching tasks taking into account different groups of students,
c) effective teaching strategies, methods and interactive teaching applications applicable in teaching geography at primary school. Learners are expected to have a basic understanding of physical and human geography and be familiar with the fundamentals of pedagogy and psychology.
Learning outcomes
Students:
Concerning the own teaching materials and preparations developed in the course Regional Geography, the student will take into account and develop parts of the teaching materials and preparations with:
a) curriculum documents,
b) the theory of the development of objectives,
c) the theory of the development of learning tasks, d) the requirement of progression and individualization.
Justify and explain, using examples, why and how the planning, delivery and reflection of geography teaching in the primary school needs to be approached in line with the requirement for curriculum continuity and progression as well as the requirement for consideration of diversity and collaborative learning.
It will use elements of interactive and innovative applications in its own teaching preparation and materials, incl. GIT.
Collaborate, communicate and present as part of a team.

Teaching methods
Combined teaching: lectures, workshops, seminar presentations and group work, individual independent work.
Assessment methods
To obtain the colloquium, it is necessary to
a) demonstrate that the learner routinely defends the continuity of his/her own preparations and teaching materials with the curriculum documents,
b) demonstrate that the learner routinely creates objectives, contents and teaching tasks about the curriculum documents, with support in theory and taking into account the educational needs of different groups of learners,
c) pass an oral debate on the thematic areas for the final examination in didactics of geography.
Both geographical and didactic content and formalities will be considered. The colloquium will be awarded after a professional debate over the own teaching preparations and teaching materials and thematic areas of didactics for the final examination (learners will be familiarized with the evaluation criteria in the course introduction and in IS.MU).
