Course objectives
Development of proper Russian pronunciation on single words and in short texts, introduction to transcription. Special focus is given to accent.
Syllabus
  • 1. The Subject of Phonetics. Phonetics and Phonology. 2. Articulatory Phonetics. Vocal cords. Organs of speech. 3. Speech sound formation and classification. Consonants, vowels. 4. Elements of Phonetic system. Suprasegmental and segmental units. 5. Suprasegmental units. Dynamics, rhythm, melody. Differences in comparison with Czech language. 6. Intonation construction 1 7. 7. Accent: Types and place. 8. Reduction. Basic reduction positions. 9. Rhythm. Rising and falling melody. 10. Segmental units. Vowels and consonants phonic, articulatory, and functional positions. 11. Vowels. Classification. Labialization. 12. Consonants. Pronunciation. Division according to different criteria. 13. Assimilation, dissimilation, dieresis, orthoepy, orthography.

Teaching methods
Regular activ participation in the class. Listening in russian language. Reading russian texts and correct pronunciation.
Assessment methods
Oral exam takes place during the exam period according to the published examination timetable. One absence is allowed. At the exam the student must prove himself to know the theory of the subject Phonetics and phonology (lectures topics), as well as the knowledge and understanding the terminology.
