Course objectives
After completing the course, the student is able to define the basic concepts of morphology. He or she can explain the difference between a morph and morpheme, word-formation analysis and construction of words. He or she knows criteria for classifying parts of speech, knows grammatical categories of nouns and verbs. Based on the acquired knowledge, he or she can understand and explain the trends in contemporary Czech morphology.

  • 1. Morphology – fundamentals notions. 2. Functional and formative morphology. 3. Grammatical cathegories of nouns. 4. Grammatical cathegories of verbs. 5. Formative phenomena. 6. Non-flexible Czech words. 7. Application of knowledge of contemporary formative codification in the curriculum in primary school. 8. Development tendency of contemporary Czech morphology.

Teaching methods
The methods used in teaching are based on the operations of thought, particularly analysis and synthesis. A structured interview method, problem method, individual work and teamwork; exercises and method of the model dictates are used as additional methods.
Assessment methods
The type of the lesson: seminar The course is closed by a credit based on a written test. To obtain a credit, the student must solve 85 percent of tasks correctly.
