Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to explain bases of research work, that is common to all science disciplines and specifics of science thinking in individual types of sciences.The aim is to understand the ways in which teology can be inspired with other humanitarian sciences and in which ways is her acces to learning irreplaceable and unique. For Christian education and charitably social work there will be commented a way how to realise surveys and research, that can help to set in Christian activities empirically.
Syllabus
  • Various approaches to methodology: as a science about science, as a science about the method of science, as a technology of research, as metatheory. Methods as procedures of research. Methodics as the techniques or operative instruments of research. Relationship among methodology and other sciences. As we know, various approaches to knowledge. Science, scientific work, discovery. Function of science: cognitive, foreseeing, reforming. Classification of sciences generally and especially psychological sciences. The place of psychology among sciences. Existing and designated subject of science. Functional and objective field of science. Instrumental apparatus, conceptual scheme and categorial apparatus. Division of sciences to paradigmatic and categorical. The conception of paradigm and sorts of paradigms in psychology: nomotetic, idiographic, …. Theory, model, conception, image. Types of conception. Structure of theory. Verbal, logographic, symbolic (mathematic, formal) display of theory. Funcion of theory: descriptive, delimiting, generative, integrative. The relationship between theory and praxis. Double prespective: praxis as special activity, praxis as contrariety to theory, centralizatin of activities, direction of time, character of patterns. People around science.
