Course objectives
At the end of this course the student will be able to: explain basic concepts and aspects of applied psychology at   transport system of human - vehicle - road environment, focusing on the psychological analysis of the activities of the driver, his mental fitness for driving, including phenomena such activities that may significantly influence (education and training   driving the vehicle, load, fatigue, monotony, socio-psychological aspects of transport, type of road and traffic signs, etc.). Explain the causes of traffic accidents and improving safety of the individual elements, not only drivers but also other road users.
Syllabus
  • A brief syllabus: SUBJECT TRAFFIC PSYCHOLOGY The performance of transport psychology as applied psychological disciplines. History and Present transport psychology - the main themes, research, authors, institutions in the Czech Republic and abroad. Basic terminology and abbreviations. Tasks and explore the subject of traffic psychologists. The future of transport psychology in a European context. HUMAN SYSTEM - VEHICLE - TRANSPORT ENVIRONMENT The interaction of humans with a controlled system for aviation, road and rail transport. "Driving task" or the activity involves the management of the means of transport. Introduction to ergonomics vehicles. Security features for vehicles and their testing. Modern transport systems in the vehicle and their interaction with the user, transport telematics. Means of transport Factors influencing the choice of vehicle. Construction of the vehicle. View from the vehicle. Interior and heating the cabin. Lighting and color. Sounds - the noise, listen to music while driving. PSYCHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF DRIVER'S ACTIVITIES Cognitive processes driver. Visual perception and visual illusion. Auditory, olfactory and tactile perception. The perception of distance, depth and speed. Memory. Decision-making. Discussions. Errors in perception, decision-making and negotiations. The issue of transport. Attention, its distribution and the importance of the movement in the transport environment. The issue of phone calls in the vehicle, a conversation with the passenger or other activities in the vehicle and their effect on attention. TRAFFIC ENVIRONMENT The types of infrastructure. Adaptation to the highway. Traffic management. Intersection. Psychological priority. ROAD SIGNS - memory on traffic signs, the particularities of highway signs. Vertical and horizontal road marking in terms of traffic psychology. Light signals. Lighting and glare. Editing transport environment - zklidňování, principles for the proposed modification of roads and delays communities. The behavior of humans in the transport environment. Advertising billboards in the transport environment. Mental fitness for Driving Measurement of visual perception. Transport psychologist as part of the system work with the driver. Legislation. Assessment of competence of drivers. Assessed component of eligibility for the driver. Profesiogram driver. The success of the driver. The influence of the health status of the driving. Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs and other substances (caffeine, analgesics, hypnotics, sedatives ...). LOADS, fatigue, monotony and BIORYTMY Definition and burden sharing. Expected and actual driving behavior. Types of drivers. Emotions at the wheel. Aggression. Communication and play in the transport environment. The role and status of the driver. Crowd phenomena and the privacy of drivers. Defensive and offensive style of driving. Passengers in the vehicle. PSYCHOLOGICAL ASPECTS education and training Traffic education and its status in the Czech Republic, compared with foreign countries. Safe way to school. Transport education in the family.
