Prerequisites
It is assumed knowledge of the basic terminology of the field, anatomy and function of the human body at school level. According to the complaints of students, the teacher focuses on the difficult and hot topics.

Course objectives
The aim is to introduce students to the basic concepts of epidemiology and prevention of addiction, an overview of processing techniques minimum prevention program used in schools and acquire competence regarding the possibility of intervention in the field of counseling and the treatment of drug addiction. Expected outcomes: the student knows the basic concepts of the field of anatomy and function of the human organism; knows the basic concepts of epidemiology and prevention of addictions; can handle minimal preventive program at school; has the competence regarding the possibility of intervention in the field of counseling and the treatment of drug addiction.
Syllabus
  • Main topics (syllabus): • Basic concepts and context of prevention and epidemiology of addiction. • History, overview, characterization and application of prevention. • The importance of prevention for society and for individuals, organizations dealing with the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation. • Offering options and application of prevention in the Czech Republic and abroad, the past experience. • Minimum preventive program, the development, application in schools. • Methodology preventive work with selected population groups, community prevention. • Effectiveness of prevention, the importance of monitoring and evaluation, relevant preventive programs. • Drug epidemiology (origin, evolution, meaning contents of the field, opportunities to study drug scene). • Study of socio-pathological phenomena in the population, the current state and development of the drug scene in the Czech Republic and abroad. • Options intervention - counseling and treatment for drug addiction. • Criminal liability and current legislation in the field of narcotics and psychotropic substances and poisons.

Teaching methods
Theoretical preparation of the recommended printed and electronic information resources. Feedback - students can ask questions during the lectures, comments, suggestions for discussion. If necessary, it is possible to further discuss these suggestions in consultation hours.
Assessment methods
To pass the course is required written test of 30 questions on the content of the syllabus. The answers are offered in a closed form, the right is just one of several listed. It should reach at least 50% correct answers.
