Course objectives
The aim of the course is to look at special and inclusive education in international perspectives. The students have the possibility to meet experts from different countries and to learn the situation in (not only) their countries. How is the situation in other countries? What are the attitudes, approaches, the current issues in different countries? How does the education and the support of people with disabilities and disadvantages and of the pedagogues in other countries look like? How are support measures implemented in foreign countries?
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will:
- be able to describe the situation in other countries,
- reflect the new information and compare it with the situation in their own country,
- be aware of the differences across the world,
- be able to think about different factors that influent the life of children, youth and adult people with disabilities and disadvantage (education, work, family etc.)
Syllabus
  • The course offers different topics according to the lecturers.
  • The course provides a preview of the situation in different countries. It focuses the education at school but also the education at the universities (preparing for work with people with disabilities and disadvantage), support of people with disabilities and their families in different life periods, work, communication, multicultural aspects, social inclusion, legislative framework, social systems etc.

Teaching methods
lecture, workshop, pair and group discussion, discussion of students and experts, work with case studies
Assessment methods
To succesfully pass the course, the student has to:
- Attend min. one online lecture and choose from other offered options (all together min. 2). The lecture schedule will be updated in the course syllabus.
- Write a report in English about each visited lecture. The students have to write a report on the lecture's content and to reflect on the situation in his/her country of origin and the benefits for the study and/or for own profession;
- The report from the online lecture (450-700 words per lecture) must be uploaded to the homework vaults - Lecture 1-3 until 13th June 2021;
- The reports from the options 1-2 (500-700 words per option) must be uploaded to the homework vaults – Option 1-2 until 13th June 2021;
- The students receive feedback from the teachers.
