The student should acquire knowledge of human social development, basic developmental tasks, developmental trends, bio-psychological laws.

Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquire basic knowledge of child development, knowledge of the development of rational-cognitive functions of man, the development of imaginative-emotional functions.
Learning outcomes
On the basis of the acquired knowledge the student will be able to understand the peculiarities in human behaviour based on age specifics and will be able to apply them in practice.
Syllabus
  • Preschool age (somatic development, development of cognitive functions, the psychological world of the preschooler and its peculiarities, emotional and social development). Younger school age (school maturity, speech development, cognitive development, cognitive performance differences, fine motor and painting development, level of aspiration and performance motivation, emotional development, forms of communication). Adolescence, (puberty and adolescence, the problem of acceleration, somatic development and self-concept, capacity for self-reflection, separation from the primary family, heterosexual relationships, the group and its meaning). The development of cognitive and emotional abilities and their connection with the socio-cultural environment. Issues of taking cultural differences into account in children's development and in working with pupils from different cultural backgrounds. Basic knowledge of educational problem solving in relation to child development. Developmental aspects of pedagogical work with children with disabilities. Hygiene habits of pupils.
