Course objectives
In the real conditions of archaeological excavations the students will apply their present knowledge, primarily from the sphere of field theory and practice, geodesy and expert knowledge of material culture.
Learning outcomes
After completion of the course, student will be able to:
- choose an appropriate method of field research
- make on-site documentation
- capture in photographs the key contexts on site
- identify archaeological artefacts, keep them safe and treat them in a laboratory
- take samples for environmental analyses
- enter the information on terrain contexts, finds and samples into a database
Syllabus
  • During the vacation after the 1st year of study the students will pass Field Practice I, which takes place at the scientific and research base of the MU in Těšetice.

During the excavations students are supposed to participate actively and individually in preparation, documentation and exploitation of archaeological find contexts.
