Course objectives
The course is designed as an opportunity to look into various events or personalities from the British history from a perspective of an analytical study of their representation in dramatic works. As such, it is a multidisciplinary course (history, literary studies, theory of fictional representation). Course objectives: 1. To learn about events and personalities from various periods of the history of Great Britain. 2. To analyze and interpret dramatic texts; compare and contrast literary and historical sources. 3. To acquire a critical approach towards concepts of “facts”, “representation”, and “interpretation”.

Assessment methods
The pass line in 60%. The final grade will consist of these 3 parts: 1. In-class presentation (up to 25% of the final grade). 2. Class participation (up to 25%). 3. A research paper (up to 50%).
