Course objectives
The course will focus on the presentation of selected legal institutions and branches, and the development of legal culture, focussing on the the 19th and 20th centuries.
Learning outcomes
Upon completing the course, students:
- will have an idea of the state of legal science and teaching during this period
- will acquire an overview of the historical development of specific legal branches in both public and private law
- will become familiar with the history of legal publishing and historical legal collections
- improve their ability to work with archival material related to the law

  • Law-making and law enforcement;
  • Case law and legal collections;
  • The "big themes" of modern legal history (revolution, codification, land reform);
