Course objectives
The seminar is composed as a catalogue of methods, text-creating strategies, and techniques, for writing various kinds of texts in the Czech language, with varying communicative functions. Having experienced exercises in individual, tandem, and collective, writing, the students will have learned how to use the correct methods and approaches of the individual stages of writing an essay, or literary text.
Learning outcomes
Having gone through the course, students will be able to:
- use the correct methods and techniques of the individual stages of essay writing;
- use the corrects strategies for writing a literary text;
- recognize dominating features of texts from various literary genres;
- differentiate between the functions of various kinds of text, and communicative functions of autobiographical writing;
- proofread a Czech essay-type/literary text based on the communicative functions of the text.

  • Declensions. (Experimental poetry in the vein of Z. Rotrekl)
  • Digression. (The Magic Porridge Pot)

  • Change of narrative point of view. (Hansel and Gretel)
  • Clustering.
  • Living photograph.
  • Timelessness.
  • Writing metaphors. (My house while I sleep)
