Course objectives
The main aim of the course is to provide students with the basic orientation in the psychological terminology and psychological theories included theories of psychological development.
Learning outcomes
Students become familiar with the main psychological concepts as psychological states, processes and traits and they will understand the concept of personality structure and dynamics. Students will understand developmental theories, they will be able to describe individual developmental phases in ontogenesis and apply acquired knowledge into educational practice.
Syllabus
  • . Psychological disciplines, basic psychological literature, history of psychology as a scientific discipline. • Subject and aims of psychology. Methods of examining human psyche, diagnostic methods in psychology. • Psychics - mental states and processes (cognitive, emotional and will). • Basic concepts of the psychology of personality, personality structure, selected theories of personality. Selected theories of personality development (Erikson, Freud, Kohlberg, Piaget, Vygotskij, etc.) • Subject and aims of developmental psychology, description of development, growth, maturation and learning. • Determinants of psychological development and general regularities of development of human psyche. • Characteristics of individual stages of development (from prenatal period to adolescence). • Characteristics of individual stages of development (from adulthood to stage maturity to ageing).
