Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide Czech and foreign students, mainly Spanish students, with a basis for the development of understanding within the European cultural area. Students will become acquainted with the perception of Czech and Spanish identities in cultural and historical contexts and will acquire the language training necessary for the successful intercultural communication.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to understand the basic contexts of Czech and Spanish history and culture, they will master the basics of the Czech language system and will be able to communicate in basic communication situations.

  • Cultural and historical overview of the Czech Republic.
  • A cultural and historical overview of the Spanish speaking countries.
  • The Czech Republic and Spain and their position in Europe.
  • Stratification of Czech.
  • Fundamentals of the Grammar System of Czech.
  • Functional areas of the Czech language usage.

Assessment methods
Credit: active participation and attendance is required (80%) as well as written test, where students show their ability to analyze and explain phenomena related to the topics treated during the course.
