Course objectives
Didactics of Psychology as one of the key disciplines in the preparation of psychology teachers provides students with an overview of current knowledge of the theory and practice of teaching the subject of psychology in secondary schools. The aim is to create a base of basic theoretical knowledge and practical experience necessary for the preparation and implementation of teaching psychology in various types of secondary schools.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course Didactics of psychology II
- student will be able to list all documents and materials from which the teacher builds in preparation for the lesson
- student control procedures that can be used for the preparation of teacher responsible for teaching
- student will be able to do and justify the preparation of the lesson on a selected topic in psychology
- student will be able to apply theoretical knowledge from psychological and pedagogical disciplines for teaching psychology in secondary schools - having regard to the profile of the teaching of psychology by the types of secondary schools and their focus of study
Syllabus
  • 1. The position of the subject of psychology in the content of secondary education. Profiling of psychology teaching according to types of secondary schools - secondary vocational schools, vocational secondary schools, grammar schools.
  • 2. Curricular (pedagogical) documents in the subject of psychology. Educational standards. Framework educational programmes (RVP for grammar school education, RVP for secondary vocational education), school educational programmes (SEP). Curricula. Curricula. Time-thematic plans. Textbooks. Methodological manuals.
  • 3. Cross-curricular themes and cross-curricular relationships and the creation of a system of knowledge.
  • 4. Teaching planning, teacher preparation for teaching (prospective - long-term, actual - immediate, written preparation for psychology lessons - its components).
  • 5. Observation and analysis of the teaching process - hospitalization in the psychology lesson (criteria for lesson observation, record of the lesson, analysis of the lesson).
  • 6. Selection, content and organization of the curriculum in the psychology course. Didactic transformation of the curriculum and didactic analysis of the psychology subject. Definition and explanation of psychological concepts.
  • 7. Topics: (a) The subject of psychology and its basic methods. History of psychology.
  • b) The system of psychological disciplines and their tasks in practice.
  • c) Sensory processes and perception.
  • d) Imagination (imagination and fantasy).
  • e) Memory.
  • f) Learning.
  • g) Attention.
  • h) Thinking and speech.
  • ch) Emotions and feelings.
  • i) Volitional process. j) Personality, personality structure.
  • etc.
  • Note: The circles beginning with No. 7 are suggestions for work in seminars, and serve as practical preparation for actual outcomes in psychology classes in the context of teaching practice in secondary schools. The trainee prepares a preparation for a psychology lesson in a secondary school according to the recommended syllabus (selection of a topic of his/her own choice) and realizes an output with this topic in a seminar, after which his/her lesson will be analyzed by other trainees and a self-reflection of the trainee's output will take place.
