  • Introduction, subject, methodology, peridization, sources, literature.
  • Why people collect, prerequisities of collecting - economical, cultural, political and social.
  • History of collecting and museums - development of theory. Origins of collecting and collections.
  • Colecting in Ancient time - Egypt, Mesopotamia, China, Japan.
  • Collections and collecting in Ancient Greece and Rome - thesaurus, Mouseion, private collections.
  • Christianity and collecting, influence of liturgy, treasury collections in Middle Ages, reliquiary and its typology, Charles IV., Jean de Berry.
  • Prerequisities of collecting - 6. - 15. century.
  • Renaissance and collections, secular collections.
