Syllabus
  • At first the course will introduce the students to the situation in the Czech theatre on the break between the fiftieth and the sixtieth years of 20. century, it will be primarily focused on the two Czech biggest current theatre scenes, The National Theater in Prague and The State Theatre in Brno, and on their reciprocal artist rivalry. Then it will deal with the individual theatre directors, specifically with their most important productions. The biggest attention will be given to the director Evžen Sokolovský and his productions in The Theatre Evening Brno and in The Mahen`s Theatre, consequently to the long-time topic of the lecture`s research. The course will be complemeted with the audio-visual previews.
