Course objectives
The course takes aim at computer-aided art and the internet as a medium of artistic expression. Its objective is to administer flash and varied views on creative expressivity of digital media. Lectures will be held by invited artists, theorists and researchers. The lectures are focused on critical reflections of internet art and are intended to invoke a debate upon its creative and aesthetic potentialities. At the end of the course students should be able to understand principles, assets and risks of artistic activities in the on-line world. The course is offered especially to students of interactive media theory (discussing creative aspects of digital media) and cultural management studies (introducing practical implications). It is accompanied with a workshop of computer music and visual arts.
Syllabus
  • The course is assembled of eight lecture blocks, thematically oriented at computer-aided art and digital media aesthetic aspects. The lecture schedule is being updated constantly according to current trends and development in the topics in question.

Assessment methods
The course is assembled of lectures, class discussions and practical assignments. It is completed with a colloquium acquired by earning at least 50 credits of 100. The credits are obtained for theoretical work (writing an essay on discussed topics), practical tasks (accomplishing creative assignments) or active participation at the workshop.
