Course objectives
Students will be acquainted with basic terminology used in contemporary law, particularly, in public administration and criminal law. The course is aimed at translation of documents of registry (e.g. identity card, passport, birth certificate, etc) from Ukrainian into Czech and vice versa. After completing the course, students will have at their command the basic vocabulary which is essential to a correct translation of documents. Apart from that, students will acquire theoretical background knowledge concerning Ukrainian (especially law) terminology.

  • 1. Basic theoretical information: what is law register, definition of terms, law terminology, law vocabulary, the structure of the language of law
  • 2. Identity card

  • 4. Birth certificate
  • 5. Marriage certificate
  • 6. Common-law marriage certificate
  • 7. Divorce certificate
  • 8. Death certificate
  • 9. Permanent residence certificate
  • 10. Certificates concerning personal identification number allocation
