Course objectives
The course follows the subject matter dealt with in CH_01 and CH_02 (Croatian for Slavists and Bohemists I and II). The main part of the course is practical, it focuses on conversational skills in Croatian language. Students will also improve their knowledge of grammmar of Croatian and acquire knowledge of Croatian area studies.
Syllabus
  • Common conversational situations.
  • Expansion of vocabulary connected with a particular thematic area.
  • Working with Croatian texts (focus on understanding).
  • Grammar of Croatian language - revision and knowledge improvement (substantives, adjectives, pronouns and numerals declination, conjugation, negation, questions).
  • Information about Croatia, objects of interest in Croatia.

Teaching methods
The course makes use of a number of various didactic methods and teaching is based on active involvement of students and their cooperation with teacher. The lessons consist of teacher´s explanations, students´ own work (individual as well as group one), grammar, conversation and listening exercises, games etc. There are also authentic Croatian materials used in the course, by means of which students get knowledge of Croatian area studies.
