- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should be able to: describe ethnogenesis of the Slovaks, describe the development of Slovak ethnology as a scientific discipline. Students should be able to analyze the phenomena of Slovak traditional culture, and compare the phenomena of Slovak traditional culture with the phenomena of Czech traditional culture.

- Ethnogenesis of the Slovaks and their transformation into a modern nation.
- Slovaks abroad.
- Ethnic composition of present-day Slovakia and its problems.
- Historiography of Slovak ethnography (Enlightenment, national revival).
- Development of Slovak ethnology as a scientific discipline (20th century).
- Contemporary Slovak ethnology and anthropology.
