Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarized as follows: Latin grammar and vocabulary (units 9-16 of the prescribed textbook), the lecture, the Roman literature and culture.
Syllabus
  • Perfectum. gerundim, gerundivum. Ak, Nom. plus Inf. Third and Forth Conjugation Verbs: Indicative, Imperative, and Infinitive. Cases; First Declension; Agreement of Adjectives. Second Declension; Masculine Nouns and Adjectives; Word Order. Neuters of the Second Declension. Present Indicative of Sum. First and Second Conjugations: Future Indicative Active; Adjectives of the First and Second Declension in -er. Sum: Future and Imperfect Indicative; Possum: Present, Future, and Imperfect Indicative; Prosum: Present, Future, and Imperfect Indicative. Third Declension: Nouns. Pronouns Is and Idem. Deponent Verbs.

Teaching methods
Every lecture requires homework preparation in reading the assigned study literature. After teacher's presentation of the general and particular features of the subject, students are guided to interpretation of the chosen extracts, and class discussions follow.
