Course objectives
The aim of the course is to comprehend the origins of the crusades to the Holy Land and clarify their conceptual framework;
to use the knowledge of the crusade world for a critical reflection of the long-lasting and complicated coexistence of the Christians, Jews and Muslims;
to create an image of the values of Western civilisation in the 11th and 12th centuries;
to propose justified (well-reasoned) interpretations of the contemporary sources;
to draw potential parallels to the present-day world on the basis of the acquired information.
