Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to classify the writing of Giovanni Verga in the context of european and italian realism; to understand cultural, historical and social circumstances of constitution of Italian verism; to analyze novellas of Giovanni Verga; to interpret the text considering poetic of Verga and poetic of verism; to utilize the knowledge for interpretation of other texts of Giovanni Verga as well as another writers of italian verism and realism
